Tips for Orange Cream Popsicles:

  • Popsicle Mold – We recommend using a popsicle mold, but you can also use ice cube trays if that is all you have. If you use ice cub trays, insert a popsicle stick close to freezing point.
  • Use Different Flavors – Instead of orange juice, use lemonade or grapefruit juice a fun twist to this popsicle.
  • Try Yogurt – Greek Yogurt added into these popsicles and is a great option and make them extra creamy.
  • Orange Creamsicle Cocktail Drink – This recipe would also make a delicious cocktail. Add some whipped cream vodka and some vanilla vodka to make an amazing creamsicle drink.

How to remove Popsicles from the mold?

Once your popsicle is frozen solid in the mold, now it is time to enjoy them. The best option in removing from the mold is running the mold under water for a minute. Then carefully try and wiggle the popsicle free of the mold.

If it doesn’t immediately come out, then run it under the water again. Make sure you don’t get water inside the mold. Also, don’t force it out of the mold or you can break the popsicle.

How long do Homemade Popsicles last?

Homemade Popsicles will last about 6 months in the freezer. We do not leave them in the mold as the molds are no air tight. Therefore causing freezer burn.

Place popsicles in an freezer air tight container and you can enjoy them all summer long.

Recipe Notes

Try putting a paper cupcake liner thru the popsicle stick to keep little hands from getting sticky. It will catch all the drips and keep it from running all over the kids. So handy!

Loved this creamsicle and the taste is great! I was wondering if there is a way to eat this without the pulp that comes from the mandarin oranges. Can I remove the white parts and skin or is there a substitute for this?

  2. Have you ever tried this with sugar free orange jello? I know it’s a very different recipe, but I was just looking at your opcode recipe with the sugar free option…

I chose one of the hottest mornings in Seattle to make these! I had to process a little longer because I think the whipping cream got a bit warm but it finally thickened up okay. If the finished product tastes anything like the leftover mix in the bowl, they will be amazing! One taste and I knew I was in creamsicle heaven!! Thanks for the great recipe.

  4. You could mash up the oranges as much as possible and then mix in all the other ingredients with a hand held mixer or stand up mixer to make sure that they are all incorporating before adding to the molds.

  5. Haven’t tired them yet, any idea how I could make them without a processor or blender?

  6. Carol – I love them too. They are very old and sadly don’t have the brand name on them. Here are some that are similar that I found on amazon – Popsicle Molds

  7. I love your popsicle mold. Do you know what brand it is? I want to try getting it. Many thanks in advance!

  8. Oh no, let me know how it turns out. I’m thinking either the whipping cream got to warm or may have fallen flat. The whipping cream is what causes this mixture to thickened in this recipe.

  9. Tried this today. It smells delicious. We don’t have a processor so I had to use a blender. The mixture never got thick, the whip cream looked kinda chunky after the first 60 seconds, but it was still runny. Kept blending… kept blending… kept blending…. the chunky became smooth and still runny. Finally gave up and just poured in the molds. We’ll see how they turn out. Any idea why mine didn’t get thick? Or is the chunky almost curdled the texture I was supposed to stop at?
