Pro Tips

  • Liners – I also like to use crock pot liners to make clean up a breeze. These are worth every penny and save a ton of time. I think they are definitely worth it.
  • Heavy – Add dairy only at the end to avoid curdling.
  • Sauce Consistency – For thicker sauce, leave lid ajar the last 20 minutes or add a touch more slurry.

Variations Ideas

  • Change Chicken – Try making Slow Cooker Chicken Marsala with Thighs. You can easily substitute thighs for the chicken breasts.
  • Short on ingredients? Try using a can of cream of mushroom soup to make this tasty chicken. Never underestimate a woman with a can of “cream of something” soup.
  • Keto Friendly – You can make Crock Pot Chicken Marsala keto friendly and low carb! Simply omit the pasta, mashed potatoes or noodles and this dish becomes keto friendly. This is a great way to enjoy the same meal as your family without cooking a bunch of various meals.
  • Bacon – We love adding in 3 slices of chopped bacon for a great combination with the creamy mushroom base.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need Marsala Wine for Chicken Marsala?

You can substitute chicken or vegetable stock for the wine if you prefer. Just use the same amount of stock so it still has equal amounts.

How to Store Leftover Chicken Marsala

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheating leftovers is easy in the microwave or the stovetop.

Can I Freeze Leftovers?

Freezing leftovers may cause the creamy texture to break down when thawing. If you plan on freezing you may leave out the heavy cream and freeze without it. Then after thawing in the fridge when ready to serve, you can add in the cream.

  4. Ryan says:

I’m confused on step 3 & 5. Step 3 is adding cream to bowl with water & cornstarch then stirring into crock pot. Step 5 is add heavy cream to crockpot. If I was guessing step 3 is without heavy cream? Plan to make this in a few days and would like knowing when to add heavy cream. Thanks!

    1. Carrie says:

Yes, you are correct step 3 is just the water and corn starch. I have corrected the recipe and post. Thank you for letting us know.
