What to Serve Fajita Seasoning on?

There are many ways to use this Fajita Seasoning. Yes, it is great when you are making steak fajita’s or chicken fajita’s. But I have used it in many other ways and it came out so amazing.

  • Soup – If you are making a taco soup or a enchilada soup, add this seasoning. It gives it so much flavor.
  • Marinate – Add a dry rub to your chicken breast, shrimp, steak and use this fajita seasoning. Before placing your meat on the grill marinate you meat in this amazing dry rub. Let the meat sit in the fajita marinade for about 20 minutes before placing on the grill.
  • Roast Vegetables – Spice up your veggies and sprinkle a tablespoon or two on your vegetables before putting in the oven.

How Much Seasoning to Use?

It really depends on the recipe and the size of the batch that you are making. But usually we use 1 tablespoons per 1 pounds of meat to make fajita.

You can adjust the amount of seasoning you add as you are cooking. I love the flavor of this seasoning, so I usually add a bit more.

The Best Chicken Fajita Seasoning Recipe:

Simply use 2 Tablespoons of fajita seasoning mix instead of a seasoning packet.  I usually mix this seasoning with some olive oil and your meat of choice. This creates a great marinade recipe for your meal.

You can easily use this recipe to create homemade spice chicken fajita mix or a great steak fajita seasoning recipe.  This fajita seasoning tastes great on all types of meat so use it often.  We love to use it Chicken Fajita Quesadillas Recipe.

What is the difference of Fajita Seasoning vs Taco Seasoning?

My homemade fajita seasoning recipe has more chili powder in it than my taco seasoning recipe.  I think that the additional chili powder gives it more of a tomato and smoky flavor. It is the perfect flavor that I love on my favorite fajita recipes.

The additional chili powder also gives the meat a nice reddish color. It looks beautiful with the sautéed bell peppers and onions that is generally served with Easy Grilled Chicken Fajitas Recipe or Slow Cooker Steak Fajitas. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the fajitas for added flavor.

Can I Use Fajita Seasoning in place of Taco Seasoning?

The short answer is yes.  Since these seasonings are similar, you can use fajita seasoning in place of taco seasoning if you’re currently all out.  They both have a great Mexican flavor that can be used in many recipes.

If I am out of Fajita Seasoning Packets or Taco Seasoning, I usually just use what I have. The ingredients are very similar and no one will know the difference.

How to Store Fajita Seasoning

Storing you Fajita Seasoning is easy to do. Once you have mixed the spices together, place in a spice jar or a mason jar. Make sure to place in cool, dark, dry place in an area that you can see it to use.

Absolutely love this recipe. I make bulk fajitas meals for my husband who works at the fire station and feeds a good sized group of fire and police. This is always a hit. Typically do chicken for the affordability of it along with peppers and onions. Adding in the fresh squeeze of lime and grilling if I have time always makes it pop. Even in a crock pot it’s fantastic. Topped with the goodies of course makes this a great meal they can start or stop to eat as needed based on call volume. Thanks!

  39. In our house, fajitas are a meal all on their own! I make fresh homemade flour tortillas to accompany them. My go to fajitas are steak. Occasionally, I will add shrimp for combo fajitas! If I do that, I serve a side of melted lemon/cilantro infused butter to dip the shrimp in before building. Bad for me? Probably. Delicious? Absolutely!

  40. Thank You, I am definitely going to try this. Funny, I didn’t even know what a fajita was until last year when I was staying at my Grand daughter’s house while my house was getting built. I helped with the cooking, She asked me to make fajitas. It became one of those “Wait! What? moments.
Easy to make with the package of seasoning she bought. Good to eat. Now I make them all the time. Can’t wait to try this.

This recipe is going to be a lifesaver! Yes I love taco seasoning but there are times when you want fajita seasoning and it is not the same thing. I refuse to buy the individual packets of fajita seasoning because the cost is positively insane. Now I don’t have to choose. With the cost of meat and chicken going through the roof I’m looking forward to making fajitas with onions and peppers AND CHEESE. I think veggie only is going to be OK because of this wonderful spice mix.

  70. Sounds delicious! Can’t wait to try this! Odd pairing I love is I mix a cup of Yum Yum sauce with a 1/2 cup of ranch dressing. It’s awesome on almost anything but I personally love it on fajitas!!!
