Substitutions:

  • White Chocolate Chips – Instead of using almond bark, you can easily melt white chocolate chips or candy melts.
  • Mummy Oreo Truffles – We have even made 3 ingredient truffles with Oreo Cookies and cream cheese. We melt white chips to create a white chocolate coating. Use a food processor to crush the Oreos into fine crumbs.
  • Sprinkles – You can easily add in sprinkles for a fun and festive look.
  • Chocolate Chips – Use chocolate chips instead of candy eyes for the mummys.

Step by Step Truffle Instructions:

  • Step 1 – In a small saucepan add heavy whipping cream and simmer. Stirring constantly, just until it begins to bubble in the pan. Stir in butter.

How to Decorate Mummy Truffles:

After the truffles have been frozen for about 30 minutes, prepare the melted chocolate.

  • Microwave Chocolate – Place 4 ounces of white chocolate into a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 1 minute. Stirring every 20 seconds until melted completely. Add melted chocolate into a sealable sandwich bag and seal.
  • Pipe onto Truffles – Trim the tip/corner of the bag.  Place candy eyes onto the mummy and Pipe mummy lines onto the truffles with the bag of white chocolate. Let set in the refrigerator to harden on a parchment lined baking sheet.

Recipe Tips:

  • Combining Truffle Ingredients – When melting the truffle ingredients in the saucepan, make sure to stir constantly. This will help prevent the mixture from burning.
  • Allow Mixture Firm – After the mixture has cooled to room temperature, place in the fridge. This allows for the mixture to thicken to roll into balls.
  • Shaping into Balls – Shape the truffle mixture into about the same size balls. We like to use a small cookie scoop to easily form into balls. Then freeze to allow the melted chocolate to stick to the truffles.
