Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan is ready in about 20 minutes. The chicken comes out with a crispy texture while still having a juicy center. Make this classic recipe in the air fryer for the best weeknight meal.
Trim 2 chicken breasts and cut them in half horizontally so that you have 4 chicken filets. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
Place 2 large eggs in a shallow bowl and whisk them.
In a separate shallow bowl, stir together 1 cup panko breadcrumbs, ? cup grated parmesan cheese, ½ tsp salt, ½ tsp pepper, 1 tsp Italian seasoning, and ½ tsp garlic powder.
Dip both sides of the chicken into the beaten eggs, then dip the chicken into the breadcrumb mixture. Press the chicken firmly into the breadcrumb mixture so the coating sticks well.
Spray the air fryer basket thoroughly with olive oil spray.
Spray both sides of the breaded chicken with olive oil spray as well.
Flip the chicken and cook for 4 more minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.
Top each chicken filet with 3 cups marinara sauce and sprinkle 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the chicken.
Cook for 2 more minutes until the cheese is melted.
Top with 2 Tbsp chopped fresh basil, serve warm, and enjoy!

Notes
If your air fryer does not have a preheat option, run the air fryer at 400 degree F for 5 minutes to warm it up. Use an instant read meat thermometer to ensure that the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature of 165 degrees F). If the chicken has reached that temperature after the cooking time, cook in 2 minute intervals until this internal temperature is reached. Serve over pasta, mashed potatoes or cauliflower. Refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Reheat the leftovers in the air fryer or oven so that they are crispy again.
