This Baked Teriyaki Chicken is tender, juicy, and coated in a sweet-savory homemade teriyaki sauce. An easy, budget-friendly dinner perfect for busy weeknights and family meals.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and spray a 9x13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
Place 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
In a small saucepan, whisk together 1 cup low sodium soy sauce, ½ cup water, ¼ cup rice vinegar, ½ cup brown sugar, ½ cup honey, ¼ teaspoon ground ginger, ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, 2 teaspoons minced garlic, and 2 tablespoons cornstarch.
Heat the sauce mixture over medium-high heat and bring it to a boil. Cook and stir for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Remove the sauce from the heat and pour half of the sauce over the chicken in the baking dish. Reserve the remaining sauce for later.
Use tongs to carefully toss the chicken in the sauce so it is evenly coated.
Cover the baking dish tightly with foil.
Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.
Remove the baking dish from the oven and carefully drain off any excess liquid from the pan.
Pour the reserved sauce over the cooked chicken.
Top the chicken with ½ teaspoon sesame seeds and 2 sliced green onions before serving.
Serve warm and enjoy!
