This Creamy Tomato Basil Pasta is a quick, comforting dinner made with pantry staples and a rich tomato cream sauce. It’s easy, affordable, and perfect for busy weeknights.
¼cupfreshly grated Parmesan cheeseplus extra for serving
½cupfresh basilroughly chopped
½teaspoonSalt
½teaspoonPepper
Instructions
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook 8 oz of penne until al dente according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
While the pasta cooks, melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, stirring continuously.
Stir in 1 can of tomato sauce, 3/4 cup of heavy cream, and 1/4 teaspoon of Italian seasoning. Mix well until the sauce is smooth.
Let it gently simmer for about 5 minutes, or until it thickens to your desired consistency. Season with the salt and pepper.
Stir in 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese until it melts into the sauce. Add the cooked pasta and toss until evenly coated. Stir in 1/2 cup of fresh basil.
Serve immediately, topped with additional Parmesan. Garnish with more fresh basil. Enjoy!
