In a medium bowl, combine 1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 ounces) and ½ cup melted butter until the mixture forms soft crumbles.
Spray the crock pot with non-stick cooking spray. Pour 42 ounces cherry pie filling (2 cans, 21 ounces each) into the crock pot and spread it out evenly.
Crumble the batter mixture over top of cherries. Cook on high for 2 hours or low for 4 hours.
