Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs mostly clear, if desired.
Combine the rice and water in a medium saucepan.
Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10 to 14 minutes, or until the water has been absorbed.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it stand, covered, for 10 to 15 minutes.
Fluff the rice with a fork and serve warm.
Notes
Some people recommend rinsing the rice prior to cooking it on the stovetop. I have tried both ways and cannot tell the difference, so I do not rinse to save time in the kitchen. If you do choose to rinse your rice prior to cooking it, then reduce the water by 2 Tablespoons as the rice will absorb some of the water when you’re rinsing it.
