Recipe Tips
Cooking Time -
Watch the butter closely while it's simmering so that the bottom does not burn.
Use Ripe Pears -
The riper they are, the sweeter and smoother your pear butter will be.
Smoother Texture -
Strain through a fine mesh sieve after blending.
Can It -
Process in sterilized hot jars in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes in a large pot.
Variations Ideas
Vanilla Bean Pear Butter
- Use a scraped vanilla bean instead of extract.
Pear Apple Butter
- Mix half pears and half apples for a blended fruit version and a delicious variation.
Slow Cooker Pear Butter
- Combine everything in a Crockpot and cook on low for 8–10 hours. Then blend with a immersion blend to enjoy.
Adjust Sweetness
- Taste the pear mixture as it cooks. Some pears need less sugar.
