Make Slow Cooker Caramelized Onions to use any many of your favorite soups, stews and dip recipes. 10 minutes to prep and let the slow cooker do the rest!
Peel and thinly slice 3–4 pounds white or yellow onions.
Place the sliced onions into a slow cooker.
Dice 4 tablespoons butter into small pieces and evenly layer the butter over the onions.
Cook on low for 8–10 hours, stirring a few times during cooking, until the onions are golden brown and caramelized.
Serve warm immediately or refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Notes
Onions do release a lot of liquid when cooking. Check the onions for the last few hours of the cooking time and if there is too much liquid in the crock pot, move the lid slightly ajar on the crock pot and allow to cook this way for the last few hours of the cooking time. Any leftovers can be kept for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
