Anyone can easily make this Smash Burger Recipe with fabulous results. The thin patties are browned to perfection but flavorful and juicy on the inside.
Divide 1.5 pounds ground beef into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
Heat a griddle or cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add 2 tablespoons butter to the hot surface.
Place the beef balls on the hot griddle and press each one firmly with a spatula to flatten into thin patties.
Season the patties with ½ teaspoon garlic salt and ½ teaspoon pepper.
Cook for 2-3 minutes, until the edges are browned and crispy. Flip the patties and place 4 slices cheddar cheese on top.
Cook for another 1-2 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the burgers are cooked through.
Brush 4 hamburger buns with 1 tablespoon melted butter and toast them on the griddle until golden brown.
Assemble the burgers on the toasted buns with 4 pieces leaf lettuce, 1 sliced tomato, and ½ sliced red onion.
Serve the smash burgers warm and enjoy!

Notes
When preparing the balls with the beef, do not pack them together. Loosely roll them into balls so that they are easier to smash.You can use 90/10 or 93/7 for this recipe to lower the fat content in this recipe, but we think that the 80/20 gives the best flavor to this recipe.
