Pour the water into a large glass beverage dispenser or pitcher.
Add the tea bags, making sure they are fully submerged in the water.
Cover the dispenser and place it in direct sunlight. Allow the tea to steep for 3–4 hours, or until it reaches your desired strength. (Steeping time may vary depending on the temperature and amount of sunlight.)
Remove and discard the tea bags.
If desired, stir in ¼ to ½ cup honey until dissolved, adjusting the amount to your preferred sweetness.
Add fresh lemon slices, if using.
Refrigerate until well chilled. Serve over ice and enjoy.
Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Notes
I made this recipe with black tea, but you can easily make it with your favorite types of herbal teas or use a combination to make your favorite flavor. This recipe is for 1 gallon of tea. You can easily add the number of tea bags to fill your dispenser. For example, if your dispenser holds 1.5 gallons then you would add 12 bags of tea, etc. The honey sweetener is optional. I find it’s best to use a liquid sweetener as sugar will not dissolve since the water is not boiling.
