Layer half of the 4 cups lightly crushed tortilla chips in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Spread half of the beef mixture over the chips.
Sprinkle 1 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend over the beef.
Repeat layers with the remaining tortilla chips, remaining beef mixture, and remaining 1 cup cheese.
Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let cool for 5 minutes, then top with 1 cup sour cream and 2 thinly sliced green onions before serving. Enjoy!

Notes
Lightly crushing the chips helps them form a more cohesive layer. Don't pulverize them completely.I suggest using mild salsa unless you want a spicy dish.Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
