Air Fryer Shake and Bake Chicken is made with a few ingredients and makes the perfect weeknight meal. The chicken turns our crispy with amazing flavor.
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. If your air fryer does not have a preheat setting, run it empty for 5 minutes at 400°F.
If needed, pound or butterfly the chicken breasts so they are an even thickness (about ¾ inch) for even cooking.
Pat the chicken dry with paper towels. Brush 1 tablespoon olive oil evenly over both sides of the chicken.
Pour the Shake 'N Bake coating into a large zip-top bag. Add the chicken, seal the bag with a little air inside, and shake until each piece is evenly coated.
Lightly brush or rub the air fryer basket with the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil. Do not use nonstick cooking spray directly on the basket, as it can damage the nonstick coating.
Place the chicken in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each piece. Cook in batches if necessary.
Lightly spray the tops of the chicken with olive oil cooking spray.
Air fry at 400°F for 6-8 minutes. Flip the chicken, spray the other side lightly with olive oil spray, and cook for another 6-8 minutes, or until the thickest part of the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
Transfer the chicken to a plate and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
Thaw frozen chicken completely before coating with the Shake 'N Bake mixture.
Cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the chicken breasts. Always use a meat thermometer to check for doneness.
Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket so the coating becomes crispy on all sides.
