Allow 1 container (8 oz) cream cheese to soften at room temperature. If needed, microwave briefly until soft enough to stir.
Cook and crumble 12 slices bacon. Reserve about ¼ of the bacon for the coating mixture.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, ¾ of the crumbled bacon, 1 tablespoon ranch dressing mix, 2 diced green onion stalks, and 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese. Stir until fully combined.
Refrigerate the cream cheese mixture until firm enough to shape into a ball.
In a small bowl, combine ½ cup chopped pecans, the remaining crumbled bacon, the remaining diced green onions, and the remaining ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese.
Spread the pecan mixture onto a large sheet of plastic wrap.
Remove the chilled cream cheese mixture from the refrigerator and shape it into a ball.
Roll the cheese ball over the pecan mixture until the entire surface is evenly coated.
Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.
