Instructions
In a medium skillet over medium heat, cook 1 ½ pounds ground beef until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
Add ½ finely chopped onion, ½ finely chopped red bell pepper, ½ teaspoon salt, and ½ teaspoon black pepper. Cook until the vegetables are softened.
Stir in 1 cup barbecue sauce, ¼ cup ketchup, and ½ cup water. Mix well to combine.
Reduce heat to low and cook uncovered for 5–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the flavors are well combined.
Serve the mixture on 6 hamburger buns and top with 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese.
Serve warm and enjoy.
