Brown the ground beef and onion in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat until the beef is no longer pink, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain off any excess grease.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic, salt, pepper, bay leaf, red wine, and chicken broth.
Bring the mixture to a low boil.
Reduce the heat to a low simmer and cook for 1½–2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened and the flavors have blended.
Remove the bay leaf and remove the sauce from the heat.
Serve over your favorite pasta.
