Chicken Green Bean Casserole is loaded shredded chicken, green beans and simple seasoning. All baked in a creamy sauce and topped with French Fried Onions.
Cook the frozen green beans based on the package instructions. Drain off the excess water and set aside.
Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add in the onions and sliced mushrooms. Sauté for a few minutes until the onions and mushrooms are soft.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soups, milk and seasonings until well combined. Then stir in the mushroom and onion mixture, chicken, green beans, 1 cup of the cheese and 1 cup of the French fried onions.
Spread this mixture into a 9X13 baking pan. Bake for 15-18 minutes until the casserole is bubbling in the middle.
Top with the remaining French fried onions and cheddar cheese. Place back in the middle and cook for 5 more minutes until the cheese is melted.
Remove from the oven. Let the casserole sit for 5 minutes and then it’s ready to serve and enjoy!

Recipe Tips
Prepare Ingredients - We used frozen green beans in this recipe. Make sure to drain any excess water. We also like to have the chicken shredded beforehand. This saves me time when combining everything.
No Need To Cover - We like to get the top crispy when making this recipe. There is no need to cover with aluminum foil while baking.
Prepare Ahead Of Time - This is the perfect casserole to prepare ahead of time. You can prepare and then place in the fridge. Make sure to cover with a plastic wrap. Then bake casserole when you are ready to serve.
Combine Ingredients - In a large bowl mix the ingredients until everything is combined and covered.
Variation Ideas
Cream Soup - Feel free to change the cream soup to cream of chicken soup or cream of celery. You can even make your own homemade version here.
Green Beans - We used frozen green beans in this recipe. But you can use fresh green beans or french-style green beans.
Casserole Dish - You can bake this chicken in a 9x13 baking dish or casserole dish.
Chicken - We usually make this recipe with leftover chicken, but you can also use rotisserie chicken.
