Enjoy your favorite fast food burger when you make this In-N-Out Burger recipe. From the burger sauce to the flavor packed beef patties, this copycat recipe is the best.
Form 1 pound ground beef into 4 balls (about ¼ pound each).
In a small bowl, mix together ¼ cup mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons ketchup, 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish, and 1 tablespoon white vinegar.
Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and drizzle 2 teaspoons olive oil onto the pan.
Place 4 hamburger buns cut-side down on the pan and toast for about 2 minutes, then set aside.
Place the beef balls onto the hot pan. Top each with parchment paper and smash into thin patties. Remove the parchment paper and season each patty with 1 teaspoon salt and ½ teaspoon black pepper.
Cook for 2 minutes until juices rise to the top, then flip. Cook for 1 minute, then place 2 slices of American cheese on each patty. Cook for another minute until the cheese is melted.
Spread the sauce on the bottom buns. Top with lettuce leaves, sliced tomato, the cooked patties, and sliced onion.
Place the top buns on and serve immediately.
Notes
These burgers are best served fresh, but you can store the leftover patties in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
