How to make In-N-Out Burger at home:

  • Step 1. Make the patties loosely. Form the ground beef into 4 balls approximately ¼ pound each.  
  • Step 2. Make the sauce. Combine the sauce ingredients together in a small bowl.  Make sure the mayonnaise ketchup and all ingredients are combined thoroughly.
  • Step 3. Prepare the griddle. Preheat a large skillet, cast iron skillet or griddle over medium high heat.  Drizzle the olive oil in the pan to prevent the burger from sticking.
  • Step 4. Warm the buns. Place the buns on the preheated pan for 2 minutes to toast them. Then set them aside while you prepare the beef for this recipe.
  • Step 5. Place the beef patties in the pan. Finally, place the patties in the pan. Then top each with a piece of parchment paper. Firmly press down to smash the beef into a thin patty.

    You can use a burger press or a large spatula and then discard the parchment paper. Season the patties generously with salt and pepper. 
  • Step 6. Cook the burgers. Cook the patties for 2 minutes until the juices in the beef start to raise to the top and the color starts to change. Then scrape under the patty to get under the caramelized parts and flip the patty.

    Once flipped, do not smash down the patties again. Cook for 1 more minute and place 2 slices of cheese on each of the patties.  Finally, cook for 1 more minute to allow the cheese to melt.  
  • Step 7. Assemble the burgers. Finally, it is time to assemble your burgers. Spread the sauce on the bottom of the toasted bun. Feel free to be generous with the sauce because it is delicious.

    Then add lettuce to the top bun along with tomatoes, patty and onions. Add the bottom bun to the topped patty and enjoy this tasty burger.
