Crock Pot Oatmeal makes the most delicious oatmeal without a lot of work. All the ingredients combine easily in the slow cooker to create the best oatmeal.
Optional toppings: fresh berries, sliced bananas, chopped nuts, or additional maple syrup
Instructions
Spray the inside of the crock pot with nonstick cooking spray to help prevent sticking.
Add 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats, 4 cups water, 1 cup milk, 2 tablespoons maple syrup, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon, and ¼ teaspoon salt to the crock pot. Stir well to combine.
Cover the crock pot with the lid and cook on low for 6–8 hours or overnight until the oats are tender and the oatmeal reaches your preferred consistency.
Once cooking is complete, stir the oatmeal thoroughly to incorporate any liquid remaining on top.
Serve the oatmeal warm with optional toppings such as fresh berries, sliced bananas, chopped nuts, or additional maple syrup.
Notes
- Old-fashioned rolled oats will work for this recipe, as they should hold up well during the long cooking process. Steel-cut oats can also be used but may require additional liquid and cooking time.- For a creamier oatmeal, you can use all milk instead of a combination of water and milk.- If you prefer your oatmeal to have a thinner consistency, you can add an extra 1/2 to 1 cup of liquid to the crock pot before cooking.
