Place 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts into a 6-quart crock pot.
In a small bowl, combine 1 Tbsp onion powder, 1 Tbsp garlic powder, 2 tsp chili powder, ½ tsp salt, and ½ tsp pepper.
Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over the chicken breasts in the crock pot.
Pour 1 cup root beer and 1 cup barbecue sauce over the chicken.
Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or on high for 3–4 hours.
Once the chicken is fully cooked, shred the chicken directly in the crock pot and stir it into the sauce.
Serve the shredded chicken on your favorite buns and enjoy!
