Ingredients

whole milk

granulated sugar

vanilla extract
Instructions
In a large saucepan, whisk together the whole milk and granulated sugar.
Heat over medium heat until the mixture reaches a gentle simmer. Do not let it come to a rapid boil.
Continue simmering uncovered for 20–30 minutes, whisking frequently, until the mixture has reduced by about half.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract until the butter is completely melted and incorporated.
Let the mixture cool completely before using.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Notes
Recipe roughly makes about 1 1/4 cups of Sweetened Condensed Milk.
