Recipe Tips
Preparing Black Eyed Peas - Before placing the black eyed peas in the instant pot, make sure to rinse and remove any debris. We like to pour the black eyed peas in a colander while running water over them.
Cooking Time - Cooking time will vary depending on your instant pot. We recommend cooking on high pressure and let the pressure cooker do a natural release. This allows the black eyed peas to continue cookie.
Combining Ingredients - There is no need to use a separate bowl to combine the ingredients. Everything can be combined straight in the instant pot.
Meal Prep - This is a great recipe to meal prep with. We recommend preparing this to enjoy throughout the week for a delicious side dish.
Variations Ideas
Add Meat - We love the ham adds to the black eyed peas. But you can also add a ham bone or ham hocks for more flavor. Feel free to also add in bacon or slice smoked sausage.
Collard Greens - Instant Pot black eyed peas and collard greens is a delicious combination.
Seasoning - Feel free to use different types of seasoning to add flavor. Add in thyme, bay leaves, cloves garlic, and smoked paprika.
Broth - Chicken broth is delicious addition but feel free to use vegetable broth or 4 cups of water.
