Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, beat together 1 cup softened butter and 1 cup granulated sugar with a hand mixer or stand mixer until light and fluffy.
Add 2 large eggs, 2 tablespoons milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
Beat until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together 3 cups all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, and ½ teaspoon salt.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dough for at least 2 hours or until firm.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or lightly grease them with nonstick cooking spray.
Using a teaspoon or small cookie scoop, portion the dough into evenly sized balls and place them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
Lightly flatten each dough ball with the bottom of a glass dipped in additional granulated sugar.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, rotating the baking sheets halfway through the baking time, until the edges are lightly golden.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before serving or decorating.
