½cupWhite Granulated Sugar
2Large Eggs

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
In a large mixing bowl, beat together 1 cup softened unsalted butter, 1 cup light brown sugar, and ½ cup white granulated sugar with a stand mixer or hand mixer until light and fluffy.
Add 2 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together 2¼ cups all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon baking soda, and ½ teaspoon baking powder.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
Gently fold in 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 cup chopped walnuts (if using) by hand until evenly distributed.
