Creamy Tomato Basil Soup Recipe is so delicious for a flavor packed soup everyone will love. This healthy creamy tomato basil soup is so easy and tasty.
Melt 4 Tbsp unsalted butter in a large stock pot or dutch oven over medium heat. Add 1 finely chopped yellow onion and sauté for 5–7 minutes until soft.
Add 1 Tbsp minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until aromatic.
Stir in 2 cans crushed tomatoes, 2 cups chicken broth, ¼ cup chopped fresh basil, 1 Tbsp sugar, ½ tsp salt, and ½ tsp black pepper. Bring to a low boil and simmer for 10–15 minutes.
Blend the soup with an immersion blender in the pot or transfer the soup in batches to a blender and blend until smooth.
Stir in 1 cup heavy whipping cream and ? cup shredded parmesan cheese.
Serve topped with additional parmesan cheese and fresh basil. Enjoy!

You can leave the soup as is with a thicker consistency instead of blending if you prefer. Taste test the soup before serving, some tomatoes are tangier than others, so add more sugar (1 tsp at a time) if the soup is too sour. Refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
