Jolly Ranchers Stick

These suckers are fun to make and really delicious. They are simple enough to make but looks fancy for even special occasion. We have made them for birthday parties, 4th of July, Christmas, or just because.

Not only does everyone love them but we also had a blast making them. Lots of precious memories are made during our time spent together making these treats.

Homemade Jolly Rancher Lollipops:

We have been making these for a few years now and everyone always loves them. They never disappoint and always turn out so yummy.

Plus, the layers of different colors look so pretty. Mix and match the colors or make solid colors. We love to do this to match our theme if we are making them for parties.

If you have ever made homemade suckers at home, you know it can be a lot of work. You have to work with corn syrup, candy thermometers and more to make the best suckers at home.

This is too much work for me. Using jolly rancher is a great short cut to make delicious homemade suckers at home that the kids will love.

3 girls enjoying these jolly rancher suckers

Really, we make them all the time because the kids love making them! I have a house full of kids and they all love them, perfect for all ages. They have also made amazing party favors which is fun because the kids can make them!

You can wrap them in sucker wrappers and kids and easily take them home. You are going to love this easy recipe that is also a great craft for kids.

Ingredients for jolly rancher suckers:

Here is what you’ll need to make these suckers at home.

  • Jolly Ranchers Hard Candy
  • Lollipop Sticks (We really love Wilton Sucker sticks)
  • Parchment Paper
  • Sucker Wrappers – These are great for storing any leftover suckers or if you want to make these adorable suckers for party favors.

How to Make Lollipops:

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F.
  • Begin unwrapping the jolly rancher candies one at a time. Place them on the prepared baking sheet. You will want to set them next to each other, either in twos or threes. Use the assorted flavors to make your favorite flavor of sucker.

  • Make sure to keep the groupings separated (like in the picture) as the jolly ranchers will spread as they melt.
  • Bake for 5-8 minutes. Watch carefully. When they begin to melt and combine they are ready to remove from the oven.
  • Remove from the oven and immediately place a sucker stick in the center of each set of melted jolly ranchers. Roll the sucker stick over to coat completely with the melted candy.

  • Allow to cool for 10 minutes.

How to melt Jolly Rancher:

You can easily melt jolly ranchers in the microwave. Just place them in a microwave safe dish and heat them in 60 second intervals until fully melted.

However, to make the suckers, I think it’s best to allow the jolly ranches to melt on a baking sheet so it’s easy to add the sucker stick. Plus they will melt together beautifully on a flat surface to make these adorable suckers.

Tips for this Recipe:

  • Use parchment paper for this recipe. Do not skip this step or you will not be able to get the suckers off the baking sheet. Also, do not use wax paper as it will melt to the suckers.
  • Work quickly when adding the sucker sticks. The jolly ranchers do re-harden quickly so work fast when adding in the sticks to the melted candy.
  • I recommend lining up 2-3 jolly ranchers to make the perfect size suckers. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can try 5-6 to make large suckers.

How to Store:

The best thing about this recipe is that if the suckers are stored correctly they can last for up to 4-5 months.

You can store the suckers in sucker wrappers or a sealed zip lock bag. Keep them in a cool, dry place to keep them fresh.

My kids love making a large batch of these and then we can enjoy them for months.
