  • Vanilla Powder – For a delicious vanilla flavor add in 1 tbsp vanilla powder to the cream mix. Add in a teaspoon of liquid vanilla extract for even more vanilla flavor.
  • Cocoa Powder – Make your coffee have a chocolate and peppermint flavor and add in ½ cup of unsweetened cocoa powder and peppermint extract. This would be the perfect mocha drink for the holidays. Serve with a candy cane for a festive look.
  • Spices – This creamer is customizable so I like to add in ½ teaspoon of spices to my coffee. We suggest the flavor ideas cinnamon, pumpkin spice, nutmeg, apple pie spice, pumpkin pie spice and any spice that you prefer.
  • Sweetener Variations – Feel free to substitute the sweetened with coconut sugar, white sugar, stevia packets or a sweetened that meets your diet restrictions. You can just sweetened you coffee individually by adding in maple sugar, brown sugar or honey.

Combine ingredients in a bowl
  • Step 2 – Next, slowly drizzle the melted coconut oil over the dry ingredient mixture.
  • Step 3 – I used a mason jar and just had to put the lid on the jar and shook everything together like crazy.
  • Step 4 – Finally, I then took a butter knife and broke up any bigger pieces and lumps, then shook again. You can also use a food processor if you prefer.

Recipe Tips

  • Coconut Oil – Before adding the coconut oil, make sure it has melted. Since it has been pretty warm in my house, I did not have to melt my coconut oil, it was already quite ‘liquidy’.
  • Combining Ingredients – The heavier coconut oil tends to settle, so I suggest making this in a container that can be tightly sealed so you can mix it a bit before you use it.
  • Gift Idea – Add a pretty ribbon and you have yourself a FRUGAL and thoughtful gift idea for your friends, teachers, or family. Everyone loves creamer and it is a nice and practical gift.
  • Fresh Ingredients – Make sure when making this creamer, make sure that the ingredients have not expired. This helps to keep this creamer fresh for at least 6 months.

Why do I add Coconut Oil?

If you like regular, non-flavored coffee creamer, I am confident you will like this base recipe. It adds a nice creamy texture to your coffee that the store bought creamers add.

The coconut oil adds that extra bit of creaminess that you will find in store bought creamers. I tried making this creamer without the coconut oil, and it just wasn’t the same. It is kind of hard to explain, but try your creamer in your coffee before adding the coconut oil and you will see what I mean.

Hi can I use dry milk?

    1. Carrie Barnard says:

Yes, dry milk should work in this recipe. It may change the flavor slightly depending on the kind you use, but it should still make a delicious powdered creamer.
