We love going to Sonic for a refreshing drink to beat the heat. There are many Sonic slush flavors they offer, but now I can easily make their favorite slushie at home.

If have made our Copycat Sonic Slushes, then you are going to love this recipe. We have even made Sonic Nerds Slushie when my kids have friends over. Everyone loves to make their own.

This Sonic Slushie is the perfect drink when hosting a family gathering or your next BBQ. They taste amazing and are easy to make.

Making this slushie drink at home allows everyone to create their favorite combination. You can even top the slushie with your favorite candies for a fun twist.

If you want to add more flavor add in tablespoon flavored syrup, flavored extract, or fresh limes or lemons.

Ingredients

Water in a measuring cup, a measuring cup of sugar, measuring cup of ice and Kool-Aid Packets

Variations Ideas

We used a Kool-Aid mix but you can use any flavor of powdered drink mix that you prefer.  

You can even add a candy toppings with Nerds or even Jolly Ranchers. Serve these slushies in a fun clear cup with fun straws for the best kid friendly drink.

How to Make Sonic Slushie

  • Step 2 – Blend until smooth. 
  • Step 3 – Pour the slushie into 2 large cups and enjoy! 

Recipe Tips

  • Slushie Consistency – If you want more of a liquid consistency, add in more water. If you want a thicker consistency slowly add in more ice.
  • Ice Cream – This slushie can be made with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the ultimate float.
  • Blender – For the best consistency, make sure to use a good blender.

These best are served fresh but you can store the leftovers in the freezer for 2-3 days. 

Can You Freeze Sonic Slushie?

We do recommend making just the right amount that you need. But if you do have leftovers, pour the leftovers in a freezer safe container. We would enjoy within about a month.
