Helpful Tips
- Baking Sausage Balls – Based on the size of your baking sheet and sausage balls, you may need an extra baking sheet. Mine made approximately 36 sausage balls and I was able to fit them all on 1 large baking sheet. Bake in a single layer.
- Type of Sausage – If you are sensitive to heat, you can use regular pork sausage instead of the hot pork sausage.
- Combining Ingredients – You can use a hand held mixer or stand up mixer to mix the ingredients together but since the mixture is thick, it does easily get stuck to the beaters so I prefer mixing by hand.
- Soften Cream Cheese – It blends much easier and helps bind the mixture.
- Use Freshly Shredded Cheese – It melts better than pre-shredded varieties.
Variations Ideas
- Add Maple – Add 1 Tbsp maple syrup for a sweet-savory combo. This is a great option when serving for breakfast or brunch.
- Fresh Herbs – Mix in chopped parsley or chives for extra flavor.
- Add More Cheese – If you like your sausage balls extra cheesy, you can easily add in more cheese based on your preference.
