Recipe Notes

Based on the size of your baking sheet and sausage balls, you may need an extra baking sheet. Mine made approximately 36 sausage balls and I was able to fit them all on 1 large baking sheet.
If you are sensitive to heat, you can use regular pork sausage instead of the hot pork sausage.
You can use a hand held mixer or stand up mixer to mix the ingredients together but since the mixture is thick, it does easily get stuck to the beaters so I prefer mixing by hand.
If you like your sausage balls extra cheesy, you can easily add in more cheese based on your preference.
Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

  • Soften Cream Cheese – It blends much easier and helps bind the mixture.
  • Use Freshly Shredded Cheese – It melts better than pre-shredded varieties.

Variations Ideas

  • Add Maple – Add 1 Tbsp maple syrup for a sweet-savory combo. This is a great option when serving for breakfast or brunch.
  • Fresh Herbs – Mix in chopped parsley or chives for extra flavor.
  • Add More Cheese – If you like your sausage balls extra cheesy, you can easily add in more cheese based on your preference.
