  • Next, pour the mixture into the cake pan. DO NOT spray the pan with non stick spray first. You could also bake this angel food cake in the traditional tube pan if you wanted to. You would need to increase the baking time to about 35-40 minutes.

  • Lastly, bake your orange angel food cake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Once your cake is baked, allow it to cool completely. I’ve made the mistake of not allowing it to cool, once!
  • After the cake is completely cooled, cover with the optional whipped topping and enjoy! If you happen to have leftovers, be sure to store them in refrigerator in a covered dish.

  1. Sheri Mycue says:

    5 stars
Do you add the water on the angel food cake box directions? Or no water and no juice from the can?

  2. Carol says:

Can these 2 ingredient cakes be cooked in a bundt or angel food cake pan. I made one in a 9×13 pan and it ran over a lot. I live in a high altitude. I wonder if that made a difference.

  3. Carrie says:

My cake usually sinks some in the middle as well but always tastes great! I haven’t tried this in a bundt pan yet so I’m not sure how that would work.

  4. Diane says:

My cake fell in the middle why would this of happened I drained the juice off of just one can of the oranges was wondering what happened it was done but done in a Bundt pan instead of 13 by9

  5. Teresa Lango says:

Yum!! Thinking to bump up the orange flavor would be to fold in some additional mandarin oranges (drained & crushed) into the coolwhip before frosting. (seems would be tastier than extract)

  6. Carrie says:

    Yes, that’s correct

  7. Paula says:

The recipe says to: Thoroughly drain the mandarin oranges and place them in a mixing bowl. Use a potato masher or your hand mixer to crush the mandarin oranges.
    Is that correct?

  8. Carrie says:

No, I do not add any water for this recipe and yes, if you use pineapple instead of the oranges I would use a 15 oz can. Thank you!

  9. JoAnn Boddiger says:

do you add the water listed on the cake mix? or add it dry? if using crushed pineapple, do you add 15 oz.?

  10. Carrie says:

I’m not sure – I have just been told not too. I think it keeps the angel food cake from overflowing the pan.

  11. Connie says:

What happens if you spray the pan cwith pam?

  12. Carrie says:

You would need to cook it longer

  13. barbara daniel says:

Don’t know what happened, but it really was too juicy, did not have a consistency of cake, more on the thin, thin side, what went wrong

  14. Carla says:

If you use maraschino cherries what size jar would you use? Plus use all the juice? Thanks

  15. Donna. Biro says:

    Could you use can peaches?

  16. johnny williams says:

Do you add water to the cake mix, or let the juice take it’s place ?

  17. Carrie says:

No, I do not drain the oranges. You’ll want all those juices in the cake to help make it moist!

  18. Cheryl Briggs says:

    Do you drain the oranges?

  19. Carrie says:

Karen – I haven’t tried that. I like the juices from the canned oranges as it makes the cake very moist. Thank you!

  20. Karen says:

    Can you use fresh oranges?

  21. M.T. Hawley says:

    Do you drain the oranges?
