We keep a regular stock on Pillsbury products like brownies, cake mixes and the ready made frostings so we are always ready for some family bonding time. My 9 year old, Dillon, wanted to bring a dessert for the kids in his class so of course we ran to Walmart to stock up on Pillsbury™ Cake Mixes, Brownie Mixes and Frostings.
Funfetti Cake is my favorite.
We love baking and cooking together as a family. With a large family you can’t have them all in there at the same time. Instead we take turns. We love to mix up a moment with baking together in the kitchen.
The girls and I decided to make cupcakes from the funfetti cake mix because I love funfetti. It brings back so many fun childhood memories and I want them for my children as well. They are so reasonably priced at Walmart so we grabbed a few. You can also save on Pillsbury™ with ibotta here. That way we are ready for Spring gatherings. As it gets warmer, we have people over much more often.
My two princesses are always with me shopping for goodies like funfetti cake. We love the new bright colored Pillsbury™ frostings. We picked orange because it was so bright for Spring. Notice how one of my girls is wearing her classes in the Walmart? Yes… we are begging for Spring weather to shop up at our door. 😉
When we got home, we got to work!
Dillon started making the cupcakes with me. Kids can do so much in the kitchen, from pouring and measuring and mixing.
His favorite part is scooping it into the cupcake liners. I use a giant cookie scoop (like these) and it works great for little hands. By the way, my silicone cupcake pans are from Amazon – I love them!
The next morning before school I decided to frost them and then Dillon would add the sprinkles for the final touch. I used Wilton tip 18 to ice it on the cupcakes and I love using throw away wilton bags which makes clean up so much easier. If you are new to cake decorating then get one of these easy kits. They are frugal and make decorating cupcakes a breeze. 🙂
Sprinkles just make the cupcake…. they go from boring to just plain fun!
So Dillon took his cupakes to school and he was so proud. He kept going on and on about how he made them himself, and all the kids said they were the best cupcakes they have ever had. They loved the icing especially.
As you can see – Dillon is very proud of his cupcakes.
So this week, or even tonight, mix up a moment with Pillsbury™ and make something special with your kids.

Come back later next week to see what we are going to make with the Pillsbury™ brownie mixes. YUM!
