This Pear Butter has quickly become one of my favorite fall traditions. Every year when pears are perfectly ripe, I simmer a big batch on the stove, and the whole house fills with the scent of warm spices.
This Pear Butter Spread is cozy and so simple to make. I love spreading it on warm biscuits in the morning or giving it away in little jars for holiday gifts! Itโs one of those small, homemade touches that makes the season special.

Ingredients

- Ripe Pears – We used fresh pears such as Bartlett Pears, Bosc, or Anjou pears work best for their sweetness and smooth texture. Remove stems, peels and slice in about the same size pieces.
- Sweetness – We used Honey and Brown Sugar. Adjust to what you prefer
- Lemon Juice – Fresh lemon juice is best
- Warm Spices – We used Cinnamon, ginger, salt, nutmeg and cloves

How to Make Pear Butter

Step 1 – Stir all the ingredients together in a medium saucepan.

Step 2 – Bring the mixture to a boil over medium high heat. Cover, reduce the heat to a low and simmer for 50-60 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 3 – Remove the lid, increase the heat to medium and heat for 10-15 minutes until the liquid in the pan is reduced in half.

Step 4 – Once the mixture has reduced and thickened, ladle the cooked pears to a food processor or blender or use an immersion blender in the pan to blend until smooth.
Step 5 – Transfer to canning jar or an air tight, heat proof, container and refrigerate until ready to use.


Pear Butter
Ingredients
- 3 pounds Ripe Pears remove stems, peels and slice in about the same size pieces or use 3 cans pears, 14.5 ounces each
- 3 Tablespoons Honey
- 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
- ยฝ Lemon (juiced)
- 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- ยฝ teaspoon Ground Ginger
- ยผ teaspoon Salt
- ยผ teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
- ยผ teaspoon Ground Cloves
Instructions
- Stir all the ingredients together in a medium saucepan.

- Use Ripe Pears – The riper they are, the sweeter and smoother your pear butter will be.
- Smoother Texture – Strain through a fine mesh sieve after blending.
- Can It – Process in sterilized hot jars in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes in a large pot.
- Vanilla Bean Pear Butter – Use a scraped vanilla bean instead of extract.
- Pear Apple Butter – Mix half pears and half apples for a blended fruit version and a delicious variation.
- Slow Cooker Pear Butter – Combine everything in a Crockpot and cook on low for 8โ10 hours. Then blend with a immersion blend to enjoy.
- Adjust Sweetness – Taste the pear mixture as it cooks. Some pears need less sugar.
