In a house with eight kids and a busy schedule, having 10 freezer meals ready to go makes weeknights much easier. I spend about an hour prepping them, and the next two weeks of dinners are covered. After 14 years of developing recipes, I know a little prep on a quiet day can make busy nights much simpler.

Why You’ll Love These Crockpot Freezer Meals

  • 10 complete dinners prepped in under 1 hour — one session covers two full weeks of weeknight meals
  • Double the batch and get 20 meals in 90 minutes — two weeks of dinners becomes a full month
  • Dump the frozen bag directly into the crockpot — no thawing no chopping no prep on busy nights
  • Every meal is budget-friendly family-tested and made with simple pantry and grocery store ingredients
  • Works in the Instant Pot as well — add 1 cup broth and cook as normal for any of the 10 recipes
  • Meals last 3–6 months in the freezer — prep once and forget about weeknight dinner stress for months

How Crockpot Freezer Meals Work

The concept is simple. Instead of adding ingredients directly to the crockpot, place everything in a labeled freezer bag first. When you are ready to cook, thaw the meal as directed, add it to the crockpot, and cook according to the recipe.

This system saves prep time while still giving you a tender, flavorful dinner. The slow cooker does most of the work, making busy weeknights much easier.

How to Complete Your Freezer Session in Under Hour

Follow this order to get all 10 meals done as efficiently as possible:

Before you start — 10 minutes:
Label all 10 freezer bags before you add a single ingredient. Write the meal name the date frozen and the crockpot cooking time on each bag with a permanent marker. Labeling first means you never have to stop mid-session to find a pen.

The right order — 40 minutes:
Start with the recipes that use the same protein and prep all of those at once before moving to the next protein. Do all chicken recipes together then all pork recipes together — this cuts down on washing hands and switching cutting boards and is how you get everything done in under an hour.

Seal and freeze — 10 minutes:
Press all the air out of each bag before sealing — removing air prevents freezer burn and keeps every meal fresh for the full 3–6 months. Lay bags flat in the freezer until frozen solid then stack vertically like files for the most organized freezer possible.

What to Label on Each Bag

Every bag needs three pieces of information to be useful on a busy night:

  • Meal name — so you can find what you want without opening every bag
  • Date frozen — so you know how long it has been in the freezer
  • Crockpot cook time and setting — so whoever pulls dinner from the freezer knows exactly what to do without searching for the recipe

Supplies You Need

  • 10 gallon-sized freezer bags
  • Permanent marker for labeling
  • Can opener
  • Measuring cups and measuring spoons
  • Long-handled spoon for stirring
  • Optional but highly recommended: Hands-free bag holders that clip open on the counter — these keep the bags upright while you pour ingredients in and are a genuine game changer for solo freezer sessions

Thawing and Cooking Instructions

Cook from frozen — the easiest method:
No thawing required for most of these recipes. Remove the bag from the freezer and dump the frozen contents directly into the crockpot. Cook on LOW for 8–10 hours or HIGH for 4–5 hours. The slow cooker thaws and cooks everything simultaneously.

Overnight thaw — for faster cooking:
Place the frozen bag in the refrigerator the night before. The partially thawed ingredients cook in the standard time listed on each recipe — LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.

Instant Pot method:
All 10 meals work in the Instant Pot. Add at least 1 cup of water or broth to the pot with the frozen contents before sealing. Cook for the standard time you would normally use for that protein.

The Double Batch Trick – 20 Meals in 90 Minutes

The single best thing you can do during a freezer session is make two of every meal. The ingredients are already out the bags are already labeled and doubling each recipe adds only 5–10 minutes per meal. The result is 20 complete crockpot dinners in approximately 90 minutes — a full month of weeknight dinners handled in a single afternoon. This is the version I actually do and the one I recommend to anyone with a busy family schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I cook these meals from frozen?

Yes — dump the frozen bag contents directly into the crockpot and cook on LOW for 8–10 hours. No thawing required.

How long do crockpot freezer meals last in the freezer?

Up to 3–6 months when stored properly in sealed freezer bags with all the air pressed out.

Do I need to thaw the meals before cooking?

No — all 10 meals can go directly from the freezer into the crockpot. Thawing overnight in the refrigerator reduces the cook time to the standard recipe time if preferred.

How do I prevent freezer burn?

Press out as much air as possible before sealing each bag and lay flat until frozen solid. Freezer bags are more effective than containers for removing air — use the best quality freezer bags you can find.

These 10 Crockpot Freezer Meals make busy weeknights much easier. Spend about one hour prepping them, and you can have dinner covered for the next two weeks. Double the batch to stock your freezer for even longer.

I do have a question regarding your Chicken Spaghetti. Can t lists 1.5 cups of “frozen seasoning blend” as an ingredient.

    1. Carrie Barnard says:

Julie – I love that you are using these recipes to help your SIL when the arrival of her new baby! The frozen seasoning blend is a Frozen mix of onions, celery, red peppers, green peppers, and parsley flakes generally found near the frozen veggies in most grocery stores. I hope she enjoys the meals and I’m so glad you’re here!

I would love to see more of these lists! Freezer dump meals are my lifeline, but it can be hard to find a bunch to make together with few, or similar, ingredients. Thank you for sharing!! (From a full time mom and full time wife and full time nurse)

    1. Carrie says:

      Thanks Samantha!

  7. Angel Thomason says:

The chicken spaghetti calls for 1.5 cups of frozen seasoning blend. What is that?

    1. Carrie says:

Angel – It’s in the freezer section at the grocery store. It’s a frozen mixture of chopped vegetables. Usually onions, celery and peppers (red, green, etc). Thank you.

  8. Lauren Sturm says:

My husband isn’t a big fan of the texture of meat cooked in the crockpot. Pork is fine, but he usually complains about chicken breasts because it seems like the bottoms of the chicken get a little burned and rubbery and the rest of it is ok. I don’t know if it’s because of my crockpot or if that’s kind of normal. I never overcook things, but I was wondering if you have any tips for getting the texture to turn out better.

    1. Carrie says:

Lauren – It might be your crock pot as mine doesn’t do that or it could be your cooking time. Try reducing the cooking time and see if that helps. If that doesn’t work, you might want to think about purchasing a new crock pot. Good Luck Lauren!

  9. Amy Moore says:

do you always thaw out completely before putting in crock pot?

    1. Carrie says:

Amy – You can put these recipes in the crock pot frozen. You will just want to cook them longer if they are frozen verses if they are thawed. Thank you!

  10. Stephanie says:

For these meals do you put the meat in the freezer bags cooked or raw?
