Ingredients to make this easy Instant Pot Mississippi Chicken recipe


  • chicken breasts
  • peperoncini peppers with juice
  • ranch dressing mix
  • butter

How to make Instant Pot Mississippi Chicken:

Put the chicken breasts in the instant pot and sprinkle the ranch seasoning mix on top of the chicken. This is what makes it delicious!

Put the stick of button on top then add the peppercini peppers with juice.

That is it! Let the pressure cooker do the work and you will have dinner ready in about 30 minutes!

Shred the chicken once cooked. This is really easy because the chicken is so tender.

Top with a little provolone cheese if you like. We love to add this to our rolls. Yum! Yum!

Mississippi Chicken Variations:

Simply add cream cheese and it will make it a wonderful creamy chicken recipe. The cream cheese gives it an entirely new consistency that is rich and delicious. My family enjoys the chicken both ways and it absolutely delicious.

Use what you have and make this amazing chicken. It is packed with so much flavor that however you eat it will be great.

If you add the cream cheese, you could try Mississippi chicken without butter. Your family will love this meal and I have a feeling it will be on permanent rotation.

Also, you can easily add bacon or onions to this recipe as well to change up the flavors slightly.

You can freeze it all in a freezer bag except the liquid prior to cooking this recipe. Then when you are ready to cook, double the cooking time since you will have frozen chicken breasts. This will be one of your family favorite recipes that you will have in the freezer at all times!

We also like to freeze individual servings so my husband and I can have some for lunch the next day! The chicken is perfect by it self with a side salad! I like eating low carb most days, so this fits in my meal plan perfectly.

You need a pressure cooker for this Instant pot chicken.

I am using an 8 quart Instant pot but you can use a 6 quart. I personally have an Instant Pot and so far I am loving it. You can find the Instant pot on sale here.  It’s really changed dinner time around here.

If you have been putting off trying an instant pot, I highly recommend purchasing one. I am not exaggerating when I say it truly has changed meal time with my family.

I love that I can throw dinner in and we can eat as a family and then we have our evenings freed up for family time!

  • 5 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 8 oz jar peppercini peppers with juice
  • 1 packet ranch dressing mix
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 6 hamburger buns

  • Add the chicken broth to the Instant Pot.
  • Add chicken to the Instant Pot.
  • Sprinkle ranch packet over the top.
  • Place the stick of butter on top.
  • Add the jar peppercini peppers with juice. 
  • Cover and set the valve to sealing.
  • Set the pressure to 30 minutes.
  • Do a quick release to release the pressure.
  • Remover the lid. Take two forks and shred the chicken.
  • Stir to combine and serve on the hamburger buns. Enjoy!

    Yes, you can make this with frozen chicken. I would increase the cook time by 3-5 minutes depending on the size and number of chicken breasts used.
