Recipe Tips
- Move Smokies around – We move the smokies around occasionally to ensure that they cook evenly in the crock pot.
- Secure the bacon – We recommend using a toothpick to secure the bacon around the little smokie.
- Touching the sides of the slow cooker – The sausages touching the sides will tend to brown faster. So make sure you these may get little burnt if not moved.
- Single Layer – We recommend placing the lil smokies at the bottom of the slow cooker for the best option. The bacon cooks evenly.
Recipe Variations
- Kind of Cocktail Sausages – There are different flavors and types of lil smokies. Feel free to use what you have or what flavor you prefer. Cocktail Sausages pork and beef will work in this recipe.
- Cayenne Pepper – If you like hot lil smokies, add in a teaspoon of cayenne pepper with the brown sugar.
- Paprika – You can add brown sugar and paprika for a hint of warm flavor to the lil smokies recipe.
- Bacon – You can use any type of bacon you prefer. I like to use thick bacon but you can use smoked, hickory, applewood or turkey bacon.
