Today we are changing it up a bit and making a delicious Cast Iron Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe. This is great for a quick weeknight dessert but fancy enough to bring to a family gathering.
There is something about a giant cookie baked in a cast iron skillet. You know?
You just feel like you are in a restaurant or you are celebrating something special… but really, it is super simple to make.

Ingredients for skillet chocolate chip cookie recipe:
- flour
- baking soda
- salt
- unsalted butter, room temp
- sugar
- packed light brown sugar
- vanilla
- eggs, room temp
- semi-sweet chocolate chips
Just a few simple and easy ingredients make an amazing cookie skillet!
How to make skillet cookie:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prep cast iron skillet with baking spray.
Next, add flour, baking soda and salt together in a small bowl. With an electric mixer beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in a bowl until creamy.
Now add one egg at a time, beating well after each addition.
It’s time to add in the flour mixture. Add the chocolate chips. Mix well.
Press the cookie dough evenly into the skillet. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool in the skillet to cool completely. We love to top with vanilla ice cream.

The brown sugar and granulated sugar combine for a decadent mixture with chocolate chunks in this chocolate chip skillet recipe.
It is such an easy recipe and the skillet worked great. Add vanilla ice cream on top and you have the best dessert. Sometimes, I also add a little sea salt.
Now, if you are feeling indulgent, add a drizzle of chocolate sauce to the top of the ice cream and cookie. Caramel sauce is good too.
We have been out of ice cream and used whipped cream instead. Either way, it is so delicious. You can’t go wrong with this easy dessert.
