What is Sloppy Joe Casserole?

Sloppy Joe Casserole takes your classic recipe and cook it in a casserole dish. There is no need for a jar of Manwich when you can make the sauce from scratch. We added in some pasta and extra cheese to make the ultimate casserole recipe.

This is one casserole that your kids will eat. The casserole is loaded with cheese, ground beef and easy sauce to make your kids coming back for more.

Ingredients needed - beef, white onion, minced garlic, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, worcestership sauce, farfalle pasta, velveeta cheese, colby jack cheese

Ingredients:

  • Ground Beef
  • White Onion, diced
  • Minced Garlic
  • Ketchup
  • Brown Sugar
  • Yellow Mustard
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Farfalle Pasta
  • Velveeta Cheese, cubed
  • Colby Jack Cheese, shredded

How to Make Sloppy Joe Casserole:

  • Step 1 – Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and spray a 9X13 baking pan with a non-stick cooking spray.
  • Step 2 – Brown the ground beef with the diced onions in a large pan over medium high heat.  Crumble the ground beef as you cook it. Once the beef is browned, drain off any excess grease.
  • Step 3 – Then add in the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes over medium heat until the garlic is aromatic.
  • Step 4 – Stir in the ketchup, brown sugar, yellow mustard and Worcestershire sauce.  Stir to combine and simmer for a few minutes.
  • Step 5 – Add in the diced Velveeta cheese.  Stir and heat on low until the cheese is melted and combined with the other ingredients.
  • Step 6 – Cook the pasta in a separate saucepan to al dente based on the package instructions.  Drain and stir the pasta into the meat mixture being careful not to break the noodles.

Easy Additions:

  • Pasta – Penne or Rotini Past would also work great in this recipe.
  • Vegetables – Add in vegetables to this meat mixture. We recommend red peppers, green bell peppers or even zucchini.
  • Add Beans – This recipe would be delicious with some added beans. Pinto beans or black beans would make this meat mixture more hearty.
  • Change the Cheddar Cheese – If you prefer not to use Velveeta, you can use shredded cheese. Pepper Jack Cheese would be a good change to this casserole recipe.

  1. Hi, with the sloppy joe casserole, could I use other kinds of cheeses or does it have to be Velveeta and Colby?
