Texas Toast Sloppy Joes Recipe:

Sloppy Joes is an easy ground beef dinner idea. My family loves sloppy joes and topped over a Garlic Texas Toast it is sure to please a crowd. This open face sloppy dinner idea is sure to become a favorite recipe.

We love easy dinners idea at my house. We are very busy with sports, school and outside activities but I still want to serve my family with wholesome meals. This Texas Toast Sloppy Joes checks all the boxes to get dinner done fast.

Ingredients needed - garlic bread, beef, brown sugar, mustard, ketchup, mozzarella cheese, italian seasoning

Ingredients: 

  • Texas Toast Garlic Bread 
  • Ground Beef 
  • Brown Sugar 
  • Yellow Mustard 
  • Ketchup 
  • Shredded Mozzarella Cheese 
  • Italian Seasoning 

How to Make Sloppy Joes on Texas Toast: 

  • Preheat oven and prepare the Texas Toast Garlic Bread based on the package instructions on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.  Bake until golden brown.
  • While the bread is cooking, place the ground beef in a large skillet over medium high heat.  
  • Brown your ground beef and break it up while it cooks. Then drain any excess grease from the pan.

  • Then return the pan back to the heat and stir in the brown sugar, mustard and add in ketchup.  Stir to combined and heat for a 5-10 minutes to incorporate the flavors. Then remove the pan from the heat. 
  • Spoon the sloppy Joe mixture onto the prepared garlic bread slices (keeping them on the baking sheet) and top each piece with the shredded mozzarella cheese. Then sprinkle the Italian seasoning on top.

  • Place the baking sheet in the oven and broil for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops have started to brown slightly.  
  • Remove, cool slightly and then they are ready to enjoy with the melted cheese. We like to season with salt and pepper.

Variation Ideas:

  • Different Bread – Instead of Texas Toast, you can use a piece of toast.
  • Change the Seasoning – Add in Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder for additional flavors.
  • Can Sloppy Joes – If you don’t want to make homemade sloppy joes, you can use the can version.

  • Cook Bread First before adding the sloppy mix on top.
