What does Garlic taste like?
We use garlic in a lot of recipes. My family loves the taste of it when I add it to our favorite recipes. Dry Garlic has a very powerful flavor if eaten raw, so cooking it mellows the flavor down. That is what most people do.

1. Fresh Garlic:

- Substitute 1 Medium Clove for ¼ teaspoon of garlic powder
2. Minced Garlic:
We love using small amounts minced garlic for sautéing purposes. The finely chopped garlic is a great option for using instead of garlic powder. This jarred minced garlic can be found in the produce section.
- Substitute ½ teaspoon of minced garlic for 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
3. Granulated Garlic Powder:
Granulated Garlic is probably the closest you will get to garlic powder. So it is a great substitute. The main difference between granulated garlic and garlic powder is the texture.
- Substitute 2 teaspoon of granulated garlic for 1 tablespoon of garlic powder.
4. Garlic Puree:
If you are making pasta, sauces or salad dressing then garlic juice puree is a great substitute for garlic powder. It gives the same garlic flavor that garlic powder gives your favorite cream recipes.
- Substitute ¼ teaspoon of garlic puree for 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
5. Garlic Salt:
Garlic salt is a combination of garlic powder and salt. So if you are substituting garlic salt with garlic powder, so you may need as much as salt.

Chives is a good option as it tends to have that garlic flavor. It is part of the same onion family as garlic powder is. It will depend on the recipe that you need to substitute it with. If the recipe recipe calls for dry season blend, chives would not be a good substitute.
- Substitute 1 tablespoon of chives to ¼ teaspoon of garlic powder.
9. Shallots or Onions:
Shallots is another good option, depending on your recipe. It has the garlic flavor that you are needing for a recipe. But not a good substitute if you are needing a dry season blend.
