What are green smoothies?

Green smoothies are healthy smoothies because they are packed full of vitamins.  Generally they are green because of spinach or kale that is mixed into the smoothie.

I like to blend spinach with varies fruit that balances out the bitter flavor of spinach so it doesn’t taste like I’m drinking spinach juice.  Green smoothies are a great way to get all the nutrients of veggies without having to eat a ton of them!

We actually just came back from vacation and boy did I miss my smoothies. Next time, I plan on packing my blender with me on vacation!

No seriously… I’m going to.  I just loving having one every morning and I love getting all the good nutrients that are packed in each spinach smoothie recipe.

Can you add spinach to smoothies?

Yes, definitely.  This is one of my favorite ways to make sure that I’m getting plenty of vegetables in my day and I can barely taste the spinach if it’s blended with the right fruit!

Should I cook spinach before putting it in a smoothie?

I use raw spinach in my smoothies.  If you boil the spinach, you can cook out some of the nutrients.  For this reason, I try to blend raw fruits and vegetables in my smoothies to ensure that I’m getting as much nutrients as possible.

If I’m going to all that work to make a smoothie, I want to make sure that I’m getting all the benefits of it too!

Directions to make Apple Spinach Green Smoothie recipe:

Ok, now that you’re prepared with everything you need, let’s jump to recipe for this delicious apple spinach smoothie.

First in a blender, place the water and spinach  (add in flax seed for more fiber now if you choose) and blend until smooth. I usually run it twice to get it nice and smooth.

Then add in the banana, the cut up apple, and ice. Blend until smooth.

That’s in!  Then serve it immediately while it’s still cold.

This simple green apple smoothie is one of my favorite smoothie recipes!

This is probably my second favorite spinach smoothie recipe. The apples and banana are a must because they help sweeten the smoothie and make it creamy.  If you would like your smoothie to be creamier, I recommend add ½ cup of either milk or almond milk to your blender with the other ingredients.

The Spinach Pineapple Smoothie recipe is currently my all time favorite.  However, both recipes are delicious and packed full of vitamins.  Also, I like to change up my smoothies so I don’t get bored.

This Spinach and Apple Smoothie benefits your health by ensuring that you are getting tons of nutrients from fruits and vegetables throughout your day.

Well… I’m not sure I could ever get bored with my spinach smoothies. Sometimes, I add a little lemon juice as well to change things up on this recipe.

How many people can say that they enjoy a whole cup of fruit and cup of spinach in one setting? I know I used to not be able to but not anymore!

You will need a good blender to make this Simple Green Apple Smoothie:

After this recipe, you will be OBSESSED with green smoothies like me then I recommend that you invest in a good blender.

Currently, I use a Vitamix and I love it. It is old (like over 20 years old!) and is still going on strong.

This blender is an investment as it’s not the cheapest, but it is one investment that does not disappoint.  It will probably be the last blender you ever own.  Amazon has several of them on sale right now for a great price.

If a Vitamix isn’t in your budget currently, then I recommend a Waring professional blender. This blender works well too.  It doesn’t work quite as well as the Vitamix, but they are the next best thing for a much more reasonable cost.  Amazon has several Waring blenders on sale right now.

Whatever blender that you decide on, either will work great to make this delicious green smoothie recipe.
