This grilled chicken sandwich recipe is loaded with flavor and easy grilled recipe. Copycat recipes are always fun to make and now my kids and I can enjoy our favorite Chick-Fil-A sandwich at home.

What is on the Chick-fil-a Grilled Chicken Club?

It starts with a breast of chicken grilled with a few seasonings. It is the closest taste served on a toasted multigrain for a copy cat Chick-fil-a meal.

The sandwich is topped with cheese, Applewood smoked bacon, green leaf lettuce and tomato. The tender and juicy backyard grilled chicken is absolutely amazing.

Feel free to top the sandwiches with any dressing or condiment you prefer. You might prefer a little mayo or honey roasted bbq sauce.

For the Chicken

  • Skinless Chicken Breasts, filleted

Variations

  • Sweet BBQ Sauce
  • Dijon Mustard
  • American Cheese
  • Pepper Jack Cheese
  • Buns – Whole Wheat buns, toasted Multigrain Buns or brioche bun.

Step by Step Instructions

  • Step 1 – Combine the ingredients. Whisk together the vinegar, brown sugar, salt, garlic powder and sugar. Marinade the chicken fillets in this chicken marinade for at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours.

  • Step 2 – Preheat the grill. Use medium high heat (400 degrees F) and rub the grill grates with oil so that the chicken does not stick.
  • Step 3 – Grill the chicken breasts. Place the chicken directly on the grill grates and grill the chicken for 3-5 minutes on each side. The chicken needs to reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.

  • Step 4 – Allow to rest. Move the chicken to a separate plate to rest for at least 5 minutes.
  • Step 5 – Warm the multigrain brioche buns. You can use the microwave for 30 seconds or place the buns face down on the grill for a few seconds to brown them slightly.

  • Step 6 – Assemble the sandwiches. Then it’s time to assemble the sandwiches. Spread your dressing or condiment of choice on one side of the hamburger buns.

  • Step 7 – Add toppings. Then top the sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes and then the grilled chicken fillets. Top the chicken with a slice of cheese and then slice of bacon.

Recipe Tips

  • Boneless Breast of Chicken – For best results, we recommend cutting the chicken about the same size before grilling. This allows the chicken to cook evenly and about the same time.
  • Meat Thermometer – Make sure to use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken is through.
