This quick and easy French Toast recipe brings everyone to the table. We usually make this recipe on the weekends but it is simple enough to make during the week. We also love Cinnamon French Toast and Banana Bread French Toast.

Cracker Barrel is a restaurant that started in 1969. French Toast is a popular menu item as at this restaurant and gift store. It is a southern cuisine restaurant that serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Ingredients needed - bread, eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, butter

Ingredients: 

  • Slices Sourdough Bread
  • Large Eggs 
  • Milk 
  • Granulated Sugar 
  • Vanilla Extract 
  • Butter 

How to Make Cracker Barrel French Toast: 

  • Step 1 – Combine Egg Mixture – Whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, and sugar extract in a bowl. 
  • Step 2 – Heat Griddle – Preheat a griddle over medium heat to 350 degrees F (or use a large skillet).  Grease the griddle or pan with the butter. 
  • Step 3 – Dip bread in egg and milk mixture – Dip each slice of bread for approximately 30 seconds per side in a large bowl.
  • Step 4 – Place bread in heated skillet – Then place the coated bread slices on the griddle and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown on both sides.  
  • Step 5 – Serve and Enjoy – Serve with your favorite toppings and enjoy.

  • Sourdough Bread – French toast is best when made with Sourdough bread. It is thick and the slight tang of sourdough makes this the bread option. This helps to keep the bread from getting soggy.
  • Dipping Bread – You want to dip the bread in quick but making sure it is coated in the egg mixture. This allows for the bread to cook with a delicious texture.
  • Heat Skillet – Make sure to heat the skillet before placing the bread in the skillet. It is also important to grease the pan. We grease with butter for best results.
