Dump and go crockpot freezer meals take the stress out of dinnertime!

As a working mom, I hate having to choose cooking dinner over spending time with my family each and every evening.

I found it was easier to prepare 10 meals ahead of time and place them in the freezer.   Starting this process has saved my family time and money.

Also, this is a healthy meal plan for my family as we no longer are eating out or hitting the drive thru multiple times a week!

Every morning my (awesome) husband will put our freezer meal into the crockpot.  Then he turns it on based on the cooking times for that recipe.

Then after my kids are home from school and all their activities, we are able to spend all our time with my family and not stand in front of the stove trying to get dinner on the table!

By the way… are you following me on pinterest? Make sure you follow me so you don’t miss another money saving recipe.

  1. Phyllis D says:

Thank you for all these great and easy recipes. I am definitely going to make them. The only thing I would change is I would use sour cream in place of the cream cheese.

  2. Joyce says:

Thank you for sharing, do you make keto recipe’s. Thank you

  3. Carrie Barnard says:

Yes, you can it would just need to cook longer.

  4. El says:

I’m just wondering, do you think it would work to sub bone in chicken instead of boneless? I know bone in takes longer, so I’m trying to decide if the ones that call for vegetables will make the veggies mushy if it has to cook longer!

  5. Carrie Barnard says:

    Yes

  6. Elicea says:

So far I’ve made 5 of these and have loved all of them! My family scarfed them all down. For the French dip, I’d like to make that tomorrow but am confused about the au jus mix. It says to add 3TBS (which is more that what comes in one packet). Do I add that to the crockpot with the meat? Or am I actually supposed to set that aside for dipping? I just want to make sure, before I throw it in the crockpot and end up with super salty meat hahaha I’ve never made a dish like this one before!

  7. Karen L Dennis says:

What exactly are chicken granules? Is it bouillon?

  8. Carrie Barnard says:

I add the water or milk to the crock pot when I cook the meals. I do not put it in the freezer bags.

  9. Cyd Benson says:

Do you freeze the milk/water for these recipes or add them when you put in the crockpot?

  10. Carrie says:

This is great question Sarah! You can prep these meals either way. I have used fresh or frozen meat and both work great. You just don’t want to defrost out the meat and then re-freeze it as this can cause bacteria growth. Sometimes I do pre-brown ground beef to drain off the excess grease before adding it to the freezer bag but I usually do not pre-cook the other meat options.

  11. Sarah says:

This is probably a stupid question, but do you put all these ingredients in a bag with meat that’s already frozen? Or do you recommend using fresh meat? Do you ever cook up the meat first?

  12. Kimberly says:

Thanks for the freezer meals love to try new food .

  13. Carrie says:

You did them correctly. I freeze all of these raw and then cook them in the crock pot. I do not blanch sweet potatoes before freezing them. I have frozen them raw and haven’t had any issues with them.

  14. Shana says:

For the freezer crockpot meals I hope I understood correctly I put everything in the freezer bag raw for example the chicken thigh and sweet potatoes recipe and placed in freezer. I had a good bit of sweet potatoes left over so I was looking and it said must blanch them prior to freezing can you confirm if you blanched the sweet potatoes prior to freezing raw in the sweet potatoes quinoa stew and the crockpot chicken and sweet potatoes recipe? Or was I suppose to cook all of these recipes then bag and freeze them?

  15. Donna Stejskal says:

I keep trying to subscribe with no luck.

  16. Angela Boney says:

Texas chili recipe is so delicious. 5 stars.

  17. Carrie says:

Yes, I freeze the meat with the other ingredients as well. Thanks.

  18. Lea Ann says:

Do you freeze the meet with the rest of the recipe? (Including the 4 pound roast?) Or are you putting fresh meat plus the frozen contents?

  19. Carrie says:

    Yes, I agree. Thanks!

  20. Jim says:

This is awesome. The more convenient you can make a meal the more likely people are to stick to their food budget.

  21. Carrie says:

I drain and rinse the black beans and drain can corn as well for these recipes. Thank you!

  22. Amber says:

Do you drain any of your ingredients before you put them in the bags?

  23. Joan says:

On the french dip do you just use a packet of dry onion soup mix and a packet of the Au Jus Mix. I saw it said 3 TB and it did not say the packet to buy. So my silly question would be is it a certain seasoning or buy some packets.

  24. Chantel says:

This meal prep was a lifesaver for me when I had my first child. I spent a couple of hours putting this together shortly before my due date and my husband was able to prepare our meals with little effort during those first two crazy weeks.

  25. Carrie says:

I’m so glad you loved it!

  26. Ralph Sebrell says:

How many servings, on average, are there in these recipes?

  27. Judith A Chavez says:

Look great will give them a try!!

  28. Darla says:

I’m excited beyond belief. My youngest daughter and I each prepped these meals for our freezers, and so far we are LOVING them…they’re making our lives so much easier (especially in these cold winter months)! Thank you.

  29. Carrie says:

I remove the ingredients from the bag and put all the frozen ingredients in the crock pot. Generally, I cut the bag off if I’m unable to get it all out. Thank you!

  30. Carrie says:

Yes, most can be cooked in the instant pot as well.

  31. Rebecca says:

Can you use any of your crock pot freezer meals in an Instant Pot?

  32. Debbie says:

So here is a really stupid question. Can you put the frozen bag with the contents into the crockpot, or should the contents be removed before putting in the crock pot?

  33. Mary Stacey says:

I just made the chicken french onion soup chicken and the chicken and rice with black beans. I added the chicken to the sauce ,ready to go in freezer. Was I suppose to freeze the chicken separate from the sauce?

  34. Jaime says:

I really like these recipes and would like to print it out but the link seems to be broken. I cant get it to load.

  35. Robin says:

HI! What size crockpot do you use?

  36. Carrie says:

I usually use the fully cooked ones and cook them on low for 6 hours. Thank you Laci!

  37. Laci says:

Hi, I was wondering if the meatballs can be fully cooked frozen meatballs or if they need to be raw meat frozen meatballs. All I was able to find was fully cooked and wasn’t sure if 6-8 hours would be too long for them being already fully cooked?

  38. Carrie says:

    Great to hear. Thank you!

  39. Karen says:

I can’t wait to share this with my daughter. She’ll love it! I’m a homemaker and have tons of hobbies, but it never fails, I’ll get right in the middle of a project and have to stop and prepare a meal. This is really going to work great for me.
    Thanks!!

  40. SLong says:

Love your site and your videos are so helpful. I really like the idea that we are able to print out your recipes.

  41. Carrie says:

Great! Let us know how it works out!

  42. Deena Neal says:

Carrie I’m so glad I found you! I’ve been wanting to do freezer meals forever and now you make it look so easy! I’m going to do some and see how it goes plus I got a good saver so that will be great!

  43. Erikka says:

I love this idea and will be trying out these recipes asap! The link for the shopping list wasn’t working for me. I kept receiving an error message. Could you email it to me please?

  44. Sue Theriault says:

I am like Carol S. A senior trying to reduce these to single servings. But, there is also a problem with freezer space. So I pick two and end up with over 10 freezer meals in my freezer.

  45. Stephanie says:

Hi I was wondering if these can be converted into the instant pot and what the times would be. Thanks!

  46. Carrie says:

I generally don’t but you can if you like,

  47. Donna Fox says:

In the Chicken & Rice with black bean recipe…do you drain and rinse the black beans or drain the corn?

  48. Tracy Kreps says:

Do you have an chicken enchilada crock pot meal?

  49. Allie says:

Thank you! I’m a newer mom and working full time while being the one in the house that cooks has been tough. I’m glad to have some ready made meals!

  50. Carrie says:

I did this up this weekend and I can’t rave enough about how easy and quick this was. Best part, clean up was minimal. I’m also following Weight Watchers and with a few minor tweaks, these meals all fit within my points very easily. I doubled everything and I’m set for dinners for the next two weeks!!!!

  51. Yobi Spear says:

These 10 meals looked good so I want to try more.

  52. Emily says:

These look great! Can’t wait to use these! Somehow I am missing the link to the labels.

  53. Dori says:

You add everything in the bag including the liquid or should I wait until I put it in the crockpot then add the liquids?

  54. Carrie says:

    About 6 months or so.

  55. Nancy says:

How long do these recipes keep in the freezer?

  56. Phenomenal Lass says:

Just bought everything for the 10 meals this weekend. With the exception of 3 items (the italian dressing, pork gravy and au jus mixes), I was able to buy everything at Aldi. In total I spent $103 – $98 at Aldi, $5 at our neighborhood grocery store.

  57. Carrie says:

    Probably about 1.5 lbs.

  58. Kim says:

I’m going to give these a try! The recipes all look like something we will like for dinners. Once thing about the printable list. It came out all jumbled. I don’t know if it was me or the website. Just thought I would let you know. Also it would be great if you could make it that you can print all these recipes out together. I just spent some time copying and pasting in Word so I can print them all out to follow. I never remember which website I would find a great recipe.

  59. Jenna says:

About much much chicken would 4-6 chicken breasts weigh? I’m more curious about weight/quantity than number of breasts

  60. Carrie says:

    I would say 6 months.

  61. Amanda says:

Hi Carrie! These all sound delicious! Any idea how long they would stay good in the freezer for? I always try and put a cook by date on stuff in the freezer. we only eat at home a few nights a week and often times stuff in the freezer gets forgotten and then we are too afraid to eat it by chance it’s no longer good….

  62. Carrie says:

Yes, in the store next to the chicken boullion you will find chicken granules. They are small pieces of chicken boullion. You could substitute for one chicken boullion if you want.

  63. Tina says:

When you refer to Chicken Granules, are you meaning like chicken boullion?

  64. Carrie says:

I add them in to freeze.

  65. Beka says:

Can the spices be added into the bag to freeze? Or do you add them in once you dump it into the crockpot?

Also do you have a list of does and does not need to be frozen?

    Thanks!

  66. Cam Ferrara says:

    Several questions
    – Do you dump all the ingredients itogether in a mixing bowl?
    – How is the meat prepared for the pork tenderloin and French dip? How much goes into a bag?

  67. Ruth says:

We have a family of 8, soccer and softball schedules, and two working and coaching parents. I’m always looking for good crock pot meals that my kids will like. These look like they hit the jackpot! Thank you!

  68. Carol S. says:

I am a senior who lives alone, I don’t need to make this much.

Do you know if there is a list like yours that serves just one person or makes no more than two servings?

Yes, I could cut the portions or make 2-3 batches of any one recipe however, the space needed for that in the fridge top freezer is prohibitive and I balk at disposing of unused food, for example: 1 can of French Onion Soup that is not called for in any of the other recipes.

  69. Mary says:

I am so excited to find this post about 10 freezer meals that are easy and tasty. I’m headed to the store so I can make some this afternoon. Might you consider posting more 10 freezer recipes? These are what I need when short on time or for my husband when I’m gone. He might actually cook one of them up!

  70. Mary says:

This idea with recipes is what I need. Simple, easy, and tastsy! I’m headed to the grocery store and going to pick up ingredients to try some of them. Then, next week cooking should be a lot easier! Can you post more freezer 10 meal recipes? Thank you a whole bunch!:)

  71. Carrie says:

    Yes, I normally do.

  72. Jen says:

Do you use frozen or fresh meats when preparing the meals? It is so easy to grab frozen chicken, seems like it might be bulky.

  73. Carrie says:

Salisa, It is making our life so much easier too.

  74. Carrie says:

I can’t wait to hear how you like them.

  75. Carrie says:

Ann, I usually just add any extra liquids when I place it in the crock pots. Thanks so much! I hope you enjoy the recipes.

  76. Ann says:

Do you put the water in the bag when you freeze them? Your recipes look delicious.

  77. Tracie says:

I just with this list and another, i got everything except for 2 meat items for under 100! (im also a big bargain shopper too) im excited to make these meals!

  78. Salisa says:

wow! Thank you so much! This is going to make my life so much easier! So wonderful of you to share!

  79. Carrie says:

I’m so glad you love them Heather

  80. Heather says:

This is hands down the BEST website/blog that I have seen for easy crock pot meals!!! Thank you so, so much for taking the time to do this!
P.S. The shopping list at the end is FANTASTICLY helpful!!!!

  81. Carrie says:

    I’m so glad Elizabeth!

  82. Elizabeth says:

These all sound so good! I wish I could make all of these for just one!

  83. Anita says:

I am going to fix some of these up over the weekend for dinner next week! Thank you so much!!!!

  84. Trish says:

Just started working 3rd shift. This is going to be so valuable while I’m feeling like a zombie. Lol. Thanks.

  85. Carrie says:

I think most of these will be find with 10 hours. If you want, I would consider getting a programmable crock pot, so it will switch to warm after 8 hours. That will help you a lot. 🙂

  86. Carrie says:

No I don’t think there would be a problem. I would also consider buying a programmable crock pot where you can program it to switch to warm after 8 hours.

  87. Carrie says:

They will feed 4 to 6 people depending how hungry the people are. 🙂

  88. Carrie says:

Thanks so much. I’m glad it helps

  89. dezi says:

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this, the shopping list at the end is such a big help??
    Keep up the great work

  90. Craig says:

About how many servings is each meal?

  91. Teri T says:

You mentioned that you cook these on low for 10 hours, but all of the recipes say on low for 6-8 hours. I’m curious if all of these recipes turn out ok when cooked the extra few hours. This is a one of my biggest problems when using a crock pot. I’m usually gone for 10 hours so often end up with dried out meals by the time I get home, Hopefully they do, because they all sound really good! Thanks!

  92. David says:

Would there be an issue with them cooking faster than six or longer than eight hours. As a single parent I’m always looking for quick and easy ideas. However, i typically go to work around 6:30 and it’s not uncommon to get home at 4:30 or 5:00.

  93. Carrie says:

It might not freeze completely solid but it is still ok. 🙂

  94. natacha says:

The honey soy sauce is not freezing….is that normal?

  95. Carrie says:

Oh I can do that next time. That is a great idea! Let me go to the store and take a look at about how much this cost me.

  96. Victoria says:

I would love to see what an approximate total cost would be for this shopping list

  97. Carrie says:

I just use regular old avery labels. I suggest you put the labels on the bags before you add anything to them so they adhere very well.

  98. Jessica says:

    Hello,

I have really enjoyed your freezer bag recipies, and am always looking for delicious new recipies to try! I was wondering if you use special labels on your bags? I have found that the labels fall off once frozen but LOVE your labels and would love to have easily readable bags like yours! Please let me know!!
