Instant Pot Meatball Sandwich recipe:

I love instant pot recipe meals that the entire family will enjoy and that only takes a few minutes to prepare. This recipe only takes about 20 minutes thanks to the instant pot from start to finish!

It’s perfect for busy nights or when you just need a quick meal. The meatballs are packed with a ton of flavor and the tomato sauce is the best ever. I top it with a bunch of cheese and it is SO delicious.

Easy Instant Pot Meatballs:

I love when we have leftovers because I serve the Instant Pot Meatballs over spaghetti. It’s so good and everyone feels like they are eating something entirely different. I love meals I can cook once but eat twice and it is a great way to save time.

We have even frozen the meatballs and they are really good. It’s so nice to be able to pull something out of the freezer in a pinch. Everyone loves this so much that I rarely have leftovers though.

Sometimes, I will make a double batch just so I can serve it another night with spaghetti instead of hoagie rolls.

A good Instant Pot is a must!

I am using an 8 quart Instant pot but you can use a 6 quart if you prefer. However, if you plan to make a double batch, the larger size would be better. I use my instant pot all the time and it’s become one of my favorite kitchen appliances.

In the past, I would get busy and forget to take something out of the freezer. Now that I have the instant pot, dinner can be ready fast.

It only takes a short amount of time to pressure cook this meal but it taste like it was slow cooked all day. The meat is so tender.

If you prefer using the crockpot. Try our Easy Crockpot Meatball Subs Recipe. You will come home to a great dinner using the crock pot.

Great for your game day parties!

You are going to love how simple and easy this recipe is. It is also really good to serve at parties or when guests are coming over. You can spend more time enjoying your guests and less time in the kitchen.

We have even made Instant pot meatball sliders. These are perfect for parties instead of hoagie rolls. They are the perfect size and so cute.

How to make Meatball Subs:

  • Add beef, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, Italian Seasoning, and salt and pepper in a large bowl. Mix with your hands until combined.
  • Form into 1 or 2 inch meatballs. I made 20, but you could easily make 24. Add to the pressure cooker. Brown each meatball in your Instant pot by using the searing method.
  • Once browned, pour the 2 cans of crushed tomatoes over the Meatballs. Add the Italian seasoning, salt and pepper, and fresh parsley.
  • Cover and make sure the valve is set to the sealing position. Set to high pressure for 7 minutes on the meat stew setting and lock the lid. You can do a quick release after the cook time.
  • Place 3 meatballs on a hoagie bun. Spoon the sauce over the meatballs in the hoagie bun and top with the mozzarella cheese and enjoy once cheese melted! You can also use provolone cheese.
  • We like to heat our hoagie buns on a baking sheet to get them a little warm.

Note: You can add a cup of water if you want the sauce thinner.

What to serve with Meatballs Subs?

We love meatball sandwiches. Italian American is one of our favorites. You are going to love meatballs and sauce.

These are the perfect sides to go with your Meatball Subs:

Can you frozen meatballs:

Yes, you can! If you do not have time to make homemade meatballs, you can use frozen pre-cooked meatballs. Just reduce the cooking time and add a little olive oil.

There is no shame in using frozen meatballs for this recipe. I have and my family still loves the way they turn out.

Yes, as long as all the ingredients fit in your instant pot below the fill line it should work fine!

  2. Gina says:

Hi! Do you think I could double this recipe in the instant pot?

  3. Carrie says:

The searing method I refer to in this recipe is the sauté setting on the instant pot. I use this setting to brown each meatball prior to pressure cooking them.
