Step 4 – Cover and make sure the valve is set to the sealing position. Set the meat stew setting to high pressure for 7 minutes and lock the lid. You can do a quick release after the cooking time.

  • Step 5 – Place 3 meatballs on a hoagie bun. Spoon the sauce over the meatballs in the hoagie bun, top with the mozzarella cheese, and enjoy once the cheese is melted! You can also use provolone cheese.
  • Step 6 – We like to heat our hoagie buns on a baking sheet to get them a little warm.

Expert Tips

  • Instant Pot Recommendation – I am using an 8-quart Instant Pot but you can use a 6-quart if you prefer. However, if you plan to make a double batch, the larger size would be better. I use my Instant Pot all the time and it’s become one of my favorite kitchen appliances.
  • Sauce Consistency – If the sauce is too thick, you can add a cup of water to thin the sauce.
  • Making Sandwich – After spooning the meatballs and sauce on the hoagie top with cheese. If you prefer your cheese to be golden brown and your hoagie toasted, place the sandwich in the oven under the broiler. This is my favorite way to serve.

Yes, as long as all the ingredients fit in your instant pot below the fill line it should work fine!

Hi! Do you think I could double this recipe in the instant pot?

  3. Carrie says:

The searing method I refer to in this recipe is the sauté setting on the instant pot. I use this setting to brown each meatball prior to pressure cooking them.
