This is our go to recipe when we have Game day or need to feed a crowd at dinner. The instant pot does all of the work and makes the beef really tender. Everyone will think the meal was slow cooked all day. It is that tender!

You can easily shred the beef with a fork to make the sandwiches. The Pepperoncini Peppers add so much flavor to the beef and I love to add even more to my sandwich. If you prefer you can also make Crock Pot Italian Beef Sandwiches.

Why We Love This Recipe

The beef is not only packed with flavor but so tender. It tastes like it has been in the crock pot all day slow cooking when really it took much less time in the pressure cooker. You will love how fast and easy this is. Plus, it really tastes amazing.

The entire family will enjoy this Italian beef sandwich. The provolone cheese on top is so yummy and the beef and peppers make the best combination.

If you have children with smaller appetites or need smaller portions for parties or Game day, just use sliders instead of sub rolls. This recipe is so easy to make work for any occasion.

Variations Ideas

  • Seasoning – Feel free to substitute the Italian Seasoning Packet for other types of seasoning. You can use oregano, basil, garlic powder, onion powder or paprika. For extra spice add in a ¼ teaspoon of red pepper flakes.
  • Hoagies – These sandwiches can be made with many types of bread. We have even made with sourdough bread for a delicious variation.
  • Toppings – We love to add melted provolone cheese to the top and it is even delicious with Giardiniera which is pickled vegetables. This is traditional Chicago way of serving this beef sandwich.

Expert Tips

  • Prepare Veggies – I use a small food chopper or processor to quickly and easily chop onions and green peppers. If you do not have one of these, I highly recommend them. It is even easier to chop ahead of time. Learn how to freeze peppers and  how to freeze onions and you will save so much time in the kitchen.
  • Shredded Beef – Once the beef is finished cooking, it should be easy to shred with two forks. You can also learn how to shred with a mixer.
  • One Pot Meal – Everything cooks easily in the instant pot. There is no need to sear the meat before placing in the instant pot.

I made the roast and sandwiches on Monday night and they were loved by all! I used a sirloin roast. The taste was amazing! Leftover meat and juice made excellent beef tips with gravy over rice! Love this instant pot recipe and will make it again! Oh yea, my husband normally does not like to eat roast beef!
