Yes, you can freeze this. It is super easy to make ahead of time and the flavor is even better.

This is a great way to save time if you plan to make this for a party. Just cook as normal and store in the fridge.

Make sure to use an airtight container and it will last up to 3 days.

How to store leftover brisket:

Place the leftover brisket inside an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will last up to 4 days if stored properly.

How to freeze brisket:

Freeze the brisket inside a freezer container up to 2 months. You can use a container or freezer bag.

I prefer to use freezer bags when possible because they freeze flat. This will take up less room in the freezer. I am always running out of room so it really helps.

It is also a good idea to wrap the meat in plastic wrap and aluminum foil before placing inside the bag. This will keep it fresh in the freezer.

When you are ready to eat, allow it to thaw in the fridge overnight.

How to Reheat Brisket

Brisket is actually very delicious reheated. However, if you aren’t careful you could end up with dry brisket.

Check out How to Reheat Brisket to learn how to have delicious brisket leftovers.

Tips and tricks:

  • The brisket needs time to rest. Let the meat sit for 15 minutes before you slice the brisket.
  • Be careful that you do not overcook the brisket. It will be tough and lose some of the flavor.
  • Use a cutting board and slice the brisket against the grain.

Make this amazing meal.

The pressure cooker makes it so fast. You will save hours from cooking brisket the traditional way. In fact, you might prefer to pressure cook this type of meat from now on.

  1. Carrie says:

Yes, I think so. I would probably cut the 2 briskets into smaller pieces just so it would call fit and make sure that they are fully thawed out before adding to the crock pot. Let me know how it turns out!

  2. Jennifer says:

Do you think it would fit in a 6 qt if the recipe were doubled? I’ll be cooking for around 10 adults. Thank you!

  3. Carrie says:

Sorry for the confusion. It’s 1/2 Onion, chopped – I’ll update the recipe. Thank you!

  4. Dan says:

The recipe calls for i.2 chopped onions. Is that 1.2 cup? I’m not sure how to calculate .2 onions. I know it’s probably a dumb question but I’m new to this. Sorry

  5. Carrie says:

    Thanks for sharing!

  6. Nicole A says:

I also adjusted some ingredients, halved the barbecue sauce, chilli powder, salt because I thought that would best suit our tastes and this was amazing. I think this is a great flexible recipe.

I cut the paprika, salt, and bbq sauce in half. It came out perfect, but adjust to your own tastes. There’s probably a lot of room for adjustment on those.

After cooking, I put the brisket on a cutting board and dumped the liquid into a separate bowl. After shredding, I put the meat back in the pot and added about a cup or so of the liquid back to the meat. Left it on warm.

Everyone complimented the result. Easy recipe and I love that the author knows that searing and rubbing ingredients in is basically pointless for a shredded brisket.

  8. Michaella Bascar says:

    What about 4# of beef

  9. Carrie says:

Yes, you can definitely make this one in the crock pot. Put all the ingredients in the crock pot and cook on low for approximately 9-10 hours. Thanks!

  10. Rhonda says:

I don’t have an instant pot and can’t afford one. How could you make this in a crock pot? ?????
