Variations Ideas

  • Change Meat – We used ground beef for this recipe, but you can also use ground turkey or a mixture of both.
  • Sauce – We combined the sauce ingredients together in the instant pot. But you can also use a jar marinara sauce or spaghetti sauce. There are many flavors to choose from.
  • Seasoning – Feel free to change the seasoning to what you prefer. You can easily add in fresh herbs or add in red pepper flakes for a kick of spice. Garlic powder can be used as well as adding in fresh basil.
  • Noodles – This recipe works great with spaghetti noodles, but you can use what you prefer. You may need to change the cooking time.

Step by Step Instructions

Placing the chopped onions and garlic in the instant pot

Step 1 – Turn the Instant Pot on the sauté setting and add the olive oil. Once hot, add the chopped onion and garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent.

Adding in the ground beef with the seasoning

Step 2 – Add the ground beef to the Instant Pot to saute. Season with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Sauté until the meat is browned. Turn off the sauté function.

Adding in the sauce with water into the instant pot

Step 3 – Add the crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce to the pot, stirring to combine with the meat. Add the water to the Instant Pot.

Add in the spaghetti noodles into the instant pot

Step 4 – Lay the broken spaghetti noodles on top of the liquid, spread out as much as possible to avoid clumping. Do not stir them into the liquid; just gently press the noodles down into the liquid to ensure they are adequately submerged.

  • Step 5 – Seal the Instant Pot lid, making sure the vent is set to sealing. Select the Manual or Pressure Cook setting and cook on high pressure for 8 minutes.
  • Step 6 – Once the cooking time is up, perform a quick release by moving the vent to venting. Wait until all the pressure has released before opening the lid.
  • Step 7 – Stir the cook pasta well, making sure to separate any noodles that may have stuck together. Serve warm and enjoy.

Recipe Tips

  • Cooking Ground Beef – Cook the ground beef in the instant pot for an easy one pot meal.
  • Adding Spaghetti Noodles – Add the spaghetti noodles uncooked to the instant pot. We recommend breaking the noodles to they fit evenly in the instant pot. Do not stir in the sauce, the noodles will lay right on top of the sauce to cook.
  • Combining Ingredients – Once you do the quick release, stir all the ingredients together with the noodles. Then it is ready to serve with your favorite side dishes.

  1. I’m not sure. Make sure that the noodles are completely covered and mine usually only take 4 minutes and I don’t like to cook them any longer as they could turn to mush. I would just cook them 2 minutes longer next time. Thanks!
